Register on a Freelance website.
A freelance website is a website where people can post jobs and get providers that are professionals bid for the job.
There are several freelancing platform all over the world and Nigerians can actually benefit from these platforms though on some of the platforms, you can only give jobs you cannot be a provider because Paypal, which is the payment engine used does not credit accounts in Nigeria. You can only use it to pay. www.freelancer.com allows Nigerians to host jobs and also provide jobs.

For example, freelancing platforms like elance, odesk, freelancer etc have a lot of jobs hosted on them daily that experts in that field can do; so you can either be a customer on the platform or a provider.
A customer is someone that posts jobs to be given to a provider. This is possible when you outsource since your niche market is not your area of core strength.

Register as a customer on any of the freelance platform. This allows you to be able to post jobs on these platforms and providers will bid for the jobs.

Assignment
Register with CAC
What Name are you calling your business and the domain name you picked?
Please avoid underscore, hypen etc on domain names.
Decide on a domain name and register it. www.web4africa.com Is a good place you can register and they provide online chat to solve your problems.

3. ADVERTISE YOUR BUSINESS
You can run ads on facebook, google, classified ads section. You can also create handbills and call cards which can be distributed to people. This is just to create awareness for the business. Make sure you add your website url and your phone number for contacts and BBM PIN if you have one.

You can also advertise your business on www.dealdey.com which is a platform for discount sales in Nigeria. Another platform you can advertise is konga.com. OLX and classified advert sections can be used to advertise your business but what has worked for me the most is business call cards.

Word of mouth is also very important so that people get to know what you do.
Don’t forget to broadcast to all your former colleagues and acquaintances. You never can tell when they will know of an opening you can consult for.

For Instance, one of the initial business we got was from a former colleague.
You can also have a promo on your website and send traffic to your website from Nairaland. Just create a topic on Nairaland about the promo. Nairaland is also a great place to post adverts. (If you can afford it)

ASSIGNMENT 3
Write out places you want to market your products and the best marketing model.

Selection of Job providers
It is important that you have selected job providers that you will use for the various jobs that you will be getting.
In selecting a job provider, you must access the star rating of the provider, the total amount the provider has made so far on the platform and the feedback the previous customers has given to the job provider.

For example, you cannot trust a new provider with the development of an application except he has past experiences to show and you are satisfied with the past experience on that project that he has.
Get jobs and negotiate payment terms
It is not getting the jobs that is important but sorting out payment terms and agreement. You need to draw out milestones on the jobs and how much will be paid at each milestone.

If possible, get a lawyer to draft an MOU agreement and a service level agreement that you can be modifying and sign with your prospective customers.
It is also important that you have a corporate bank account where customers can pay your money after each milestone has been achieved.

Outsource the Job to a job provider.
When you have agreed on the terms of the job with your customer, you then have to post the job on the freelancing platform. In posting the job, you need to be very thorough in the description of the job and all that it requires.
You must also specify the duration you have for the job and also how much you want to pay for the job.

Based on that, you will have quite a number of job providers bidding for the job at various prices. Be sure to pick the best provider in terms of rating, experience, customer feedback and also previous experiences of the provider in a similar application.
You can hire someone on the same platform to monitor the progress of the application for you if you do not have experience in application development.

Extra Point
I promised 3 points but I am compelled to give you an extra point which is:
THROW IN A FREE SERVICE
From experience with clients, we need to throw in a free service before they actually give us jobs. For example, we approached an organization for a business but in checking the organization’s website, we saw that their website was crap so we decided to throw in a free service of a website to the Management and as we were invited for a presentation, we showcased the website , the Management was impressed. We were awarded the contract. The website that was designed only cost us $100.00. which enabled us get a job worth millions of naira and other contracts from the the organization.
